The Midjourney prompts

Generative imagery, design concepts, and visual work. Every prompt is copyable, replaceable, and ready to use.

§ Overview

Midjourney is the one image generator in this collection, and every prompt here is built for it. Unlike the text models, you're not having a conversation, you're writing a single descriptive line that Midjourney turns into four image variations. The prompts gathered here cover the workhorse use cases: logo concepts, clean product photography on white, cinematic portraits, isometric illustrations, packaging mockups, and stylized UI screens.

Getting a great result is less about clever instructions and more about precise visual description. Midjourney responds to concrete nouns and adjectives: the subject, the art style or medium, the lighting, the camera or lens, the mood, and the color palette.

It also reads parameters that no text model uses, like aspect ratio and stylization controls. The prompts in this library include those parameters so your first generation already matches the right shape and look, and you can remix from there.

§ Field Notes

What makes a good Midjourney prompt

A strong Midjourney prompt is a stacked visual description, not a sentence. Lead with the subject, then layer style ("flat isometric illustration," "cinematic film still"), lighting ("soft studio softbox lighting," "golden hour"), composition and framing ("centered, white background," "close-up portrait"), and palette or mood. Specificity beats length: "matte navy product packaging, studio lighting, 45-degree angle" outperforms a vague "nice professional packaging."

Parameters are the other half. Set the canvas with --ar (for example --ar 16:9 for a banner, --ar 2:3 for a portrait), control how heavily Midjourney applies its house aesthetic with --stylize, and steer the look with a style or image reference using --sref or --cref so a series stays visually consistent.

§ Pro Tips

Get sharper results

  • 01Set your aspect ratio with --ar to match the use case before anything else: --ar 1:1 for a logo or product shot, --ar 16:9 for a hero banner, --ar 2:3 for a portrait, so you're not cropping a square later.
  • 02Order your prompt by importance: subject first, then style, lighting, composition, and color, because Midjourney weights earlier terms more heavily than ones buried at the end.
  • 03Use --sref with a reference image URL to lock a consistent visual style across a series of logos or illustrations, and --no to exclude unwanted elements like "--no text" on a clean product shot.
  • 04Tune --stylize (often written --s) to trade off prompt accuracy against Midjourney's artistic flourish: lower values stay literal to your description, higher values push a more stylized, polished look.
§ FAQ

Common questions

How is prompting Midjourney different from prompting ChatGPT or Claude?

There's no conversation or reasoning involved. You write one dense visual description and Midjourney returns image variations from it. Instead of role, context, and constraints, you focus on subject, style, lighting, composition, color, and parameters like --ar. You iterate by remixing or rerolling rather than by chatting.

What does the --ar parameter do, and which values should I use?

--ar sets the aspect ratio of the output. Use --ar 1:1 for square logos and product shots, --ar 16:9 for wide banners and UI mockups, and --ar 2:3 or --ar 3:4 for vertical portraits and packaging. Setting it in the prompt is cleaner than generating a square and cropping afterward.

How do I keep a consistent style across multiple images?

Use a style reference with --sref pointing to an image whose look you want to echo, and keep your core style and lighting words identical across prompts. For consistent characters or faces, a character reference with --cref helps. Combining these keeps a logo set or illustration series visually coherent.
